11 Days trip in the South of Laos
Day 1: Vientiane – Kong Lor Cave
We meet up at your hotel, and we head out from the city on Road 13 south until we pass Pakading town. We then separate ways to Hin Boun, where we will explore the amazing cave in the middle part of Laos. Overnight in Kong Lor village
Day 2: Explore Kong Lor cave and village
After breakfast, we drive to Kong Lor village, where you can explore before we sit down in a small boat and go to a cave in the famous Kong Lor. We navigate through the cave, which is 7 km long and has a number of spectacular caves, which are up to 100 m high. We return through the cave and enjoy our lunch, then we go to the boat for 30 minutes on the HinBoun River, which leads us past beautiful landscapes. Overnight in Kong Lor village
Day 3: Kong Lor to the Rock viewpoint
What Will You Do
Start the tour with an epic 3 sets of zip lines of 480 m, 90 m, and 70 m in length, flying across the valley of this stunning landscape.
Walk across a tremendous 51 m length of a hanging rope bridge, which is at approximately 430 m high above the sea level.
Walk across the ONLY amazing Spider Net Bridge in Laos with a length of 62 m and approximately 440 m high above the sea level.
Climb the thrilling circuit of Via Ferrata to reach the 360° Viewpoint, where you will have the time to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the entire Limestone Forest.
Fly via another amazing 3 sets of Zip-Lines of 420, 280 and 340 m length into the forest.
Walk across an astounding 80 m length of a Suspended Bridge which is at approximately 435 m high above the sea level.
Fly via another thrilling 5 sets of Zip-Lines of 270, 180, 350, 320 and 280 m length into the forest.
Trekking through the lovely canopy of the Limestone Jungle for 600 m.
Walk across a breathtaking 10 m length of a V Shaped Hanging Rope Bridge which is at approximately 420 m high above the sea level.
Ending with an incredible flying across the rock formations on the final Zip-Line of 280 m back to the Phou Pha Marn Visitor’s Centre, where you can enjoy the scenic views by having a delicious meal from the Khop Chai Deu Restaurant or learn about the amazing location at the Information Centre.
Day 4: Kong Lor to Thakhek town
After breakfast, we can get a private van or public transportation from Konglor to Thakhek town; it will take about 3-4 hrs to get to Thakhek. After that, we will walk to visit some temples and sightsee along the Mekong River.
Day 5: Explore Thakhek town
Thakhek is a former trading port in central Laos. It's on the Mekong River, bordering Thailand. The old town has French colonial buildings from the early 20th century. South of the center, the centuries-old, golden-tipped Sikhottabong Stupa is believed to house Buddhist relics. The massive Kampaeng Yark sandstone wall north of town might once have been a defensive structure.
Today we will go to visit the Tham Nong Pa Fa cave and Xiangliab (Thafalang) by bicycle; it's about 15 km out of the city, which was rediscovered in April of 2004. The cave preserves 229 bronze Buddhas, some of which are over 300 years old, which is why this cave is also called Buddha Cave. Overnight in Thakhek
Day 6: Thakhek - Pakse
At 8:00 am today, we will travel with the public bus from Thakhek to Pakse, which takes about 5-6 hours
Day 7: Tour in Pakse – Bolaven Plateau – Waterfall
Start the tour to the Bolaven Plateau and some waterfalls, and visit tea and coffee plantations and hill tribes that have relations with the Mon-Khmer group, such as Katu and Lavae.
Day 8: Pakse – Wat Phu - Prayers and meditations with monks
Today is a special day to experience meditation with a monk at a local temple in Pakse.
After breakfast at 9:00 am, we will start our day by driving across the Mekong River to the Wat Phu Champasak, the oldest temple in southern Laos. We then head back to the Phu Salao temple setting alongside the river, where they have a lot of Buddha images. After that, we went back to the local temple in Pakse town for our meditation. Day 9: Pakse – Si Phan Don
Visit Wat Phu, the second of Laos’s world heritage site then drive to Khonephapheng Waterfall and drive back to Nakasang, then boat to 4000 Islands, Done Khone. Overnight GH in Done Khone
Day 10: Tour in Si Phan Don
We are cycling to explore the local peaceful villages of Ban Khone, where you will see an array of relics from the French colonial era and retrace the old colonial past, including old French colonial buildings and the remnants of the first Lao railway with its locomotive. We continue to visit the marvelous Liphi waterfall, also called the “Corridor of the Devil,” one of the most beautiful waterfalls, cross the bridge to Done Deth Island, lunch there, and relax. Late afternoon: Take a boat cruise around the island during sunset.
Day 11: Done Khone—transfer to the Cambodia border or back to Pakse for taking afternoon flight or carThailand.
