Itinerary
Day 1: Vientiane
Upon your arrival in Vientiane, our driver will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel for checking in.
If time permits, you can enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the Mekong River.
Free dinner and overnight in Vientiane.
Included: Accommodation and airport pickup.
Day 2: Vientiane sightseeing
The day tour in inVientiane begins with a visit to Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple still standing in the town. This amazing structure features remarkable frescoes and Buddha statues. Next we visit the former royal temple of Haw Pha Kaew, which once housed the famous Emerald Buddha image. We also visit the imposing Patouxai Monument—well known as Vientiane s own Arc de Triomphe—before we continue on to the great sacred structure and symbol of Laos - That Luang Stupa.
Heading out of town, we see the Buddha Park, a blend of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures created by a mystical monk on parkland on the banks of the Mekong River and close to the impressive Friendship Bridge linking Laos and Thailand. A perfect way to round off the day is to watch the spectacular sunset over the Mekong River from one of the riverside bars. Overnight in Vientiane
Day 3: Vientiane - Pakse - 4000 islands
After enjoying breakfast, we embark on an early flight to Pakse. From there, our journey heads south on National Road No. 13 towards Champasak, where we pause to explore the awe-inspiring pre-Angkorian Wat Phu. This temple, nestled at the base of Mount Phu Kao, is one of Southeast Asia’s most magnificent architectural wonders. Dating back to the 10th century, Wat Phu predates the renowned Angkor Wat in Cambodia and was honored as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. Its rich historical significance and stunning Khmer architecture make it a must-visit.
Our adventure continues with a drive to the majestic Khone Phapeng Falls. Known as the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia, it’s often referred to as the “Niagara of the East” due to its impressive scale and beauty. After this enriching historical experience, we continue our adventure towards Don Khone. As the largest island in the South Mekong River area, known as the 4000 Islands, Don Khone is celebrated for its breathtaking scenery and tranquil ambiance, making it a highlight of Laos’ natural beauty.
The day concludes with an overnight stay on Don Khone Island, allowing you to relax and soak in the serene atmosphere of this picturesque region.
Day 4: Full-day in 4000 islands
Following an early breakfast, our day begins with a fascinating tour of the villages near Ban Khone. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to witness the remnants of Laos’ colonial era, including several old French colonial buildings and the historic first Lao railway with its locomotive. This part of the tour offers a glimpse into the area’s rich colonial history.
Next, we embark on a leisurely boat tour through the 4000 islands, allowing us to appreciate the area’s natural beauty at our own pace. A highlight of this journey is a visit to the stunning Liphi Waterfall, also known as Samphamith. Located at the Laos-Cambodia border, this waterfall is among the region’s most picturesque. End of the tour in the late afternoon and overnight on Don Khon Island.
Day 5: Don Khone - Pakse
Departing from Don Khone Island, our journey takes us through the scenic Bolaven Plateau. The Bolaven Plateau, elevated above the Mekong Valley, is renowned for its cooler climate. This highland area is a natural wonder, with rivers cascading in all directions, forming spectacular waterfalls that plunge into verdant forests below. Explore the stunning waterfall and coffee plantation.
Arrive in Pakse in the late afternoon. Overnight at the hotel in Pakse.
Day 5: Pakse - Transfer to the next destination
After breakfast at the hotel, you will have free time to discover Pakse Town at your leisure.
Then, our driver will take you to the airport or drive to the Thailand border for your next destination. End of Laos 6-day tour with many cultural lessons and adventure experiences.
